Brammo doubles the mileage of the electric motorcycle with the Enertia Plus for 2011.

Brammo has announced the 2011 version of its electric motorcycle the Enertia Plus, will have double the range of its previous model the Enertia. According to the Brammo website, the Enertia Plus will now be able to get up to 80 miles on a charge at a MSRP of $8,995.00.

The Brammo Enertia Plus

The Enertia Plus is an all-electric motorcycle powered by a 6.0 kWh lithium-ion battery. Since the motorcycle is battery powered it requires low maintenance, no oil, and it is made from mostly recycled materials. With a range of 80 miles, the Enertia Plus is can easily be used as a daily commuter and now has the range to go out for a weekend ride without worry that the battery will run out.

The Enertia Plus will also feature a number of other enhancements including simplified charging, improved maneuverability, plus the option to add a center kickstand and rigid Givi side bags. Customers can choose from four new colors: Eclipsed Black, Peacekeeping Blue, True Blood Red and Aluminium Silver.

The motorcycle does have some limitations. The maximum speed tops out at 60 miles per hour. Even in Oregon where the motorcycle is manufactured, the interstate speed limit in some areas is 65 miles per hour. With a maximum speed of 60 miles per hour, some riders might not want to take the motorcycle out on the interstate, limiting potential sales. For those in need of an electric motorcycle that can exceed 60 miles per hour, they might want to consider the Brammo Empulse. The Empulse can exceed 100 miles per hour.

The average time it takes to charge the Enertia Plus is about 8 hours. With such a long charge time, users will be limited to one 80 mile maximum ride per day.
